Les escribimos para compartirles una serie de novedades del Buscador. Durante estos meses, tanto José Urzúa (.CL) como los colegas del .UY (Javier Coirolo, José Lombardi, Diego Bastiani, Freddy Hernandez y Gonzalo Diharce) han estado trabajado de manera dedicada y cooperativa para mantener y mejorar la operación del servicio.
En primer lugar, en la aplicación del Buscador, se desarrolló una nueva funcionalidad que genera un correo electrónico informando los errores detectados en la comunicación con los ccTLD integrados. Esta funcionalidad será habilitada en los próximos días y notificaremos a los ccTLD integrados apenas eso suceda. De esta manera, comenzará a generar reportes cada 12 horas, con los cuales esperamos ir evaluando su desempeño con el Comité del Buscador, para incluir los cambios que corresponda.
En segundo lugar, el equipo .CL - .UY ha estado trabajando tanto en la administración de la infraestructura que actualmente soporta el servicio, como en el desarrollo y mejora de las aplicaciones que componen el Buscador. Respecto a lo primero, el objetivo es que los expertos de .UY puedan realizar un diagnóstico y, también, proponer cambios que permitan pasar del modo beta a un estado oficial de producción. En cuanto a lo segundo, el desarrollo, el .UY ha realizado mejoras en la aplicación CAS (cctld-availability-service), que han permitido superar algunos errores que generaban respuestas fallidas ante consultas del BUD. Esta aplicación es la que actualmente usan 8 ccTLD integrados y esperamos que dichas mejoras realizadas en .UY permitan generar una nueva versión de CAS que dejaremos disponible para actualización en cada ccTLD.
Por último, comentamos brevemente que la integración con el Buscador realizada por NIC Chile ha sido exitosa y se ha visto reflejada en los orígenes de las visitas web del servicio. NIC Chile realizó la integración al BUD en el último paso que confirma el pago exitoso de una inscripción o renovación, agregando un enlace que invita al cliente a consultar la disponibilidad en Latinoamérica y Caribe del dominio que acaba de pagar. Dicho enlace incluye un parámetro que permite al usuario llegar al Buscador de Dominios y ver automáticamente la disponibilidad del nombre en la región, sin tener que escribir manualmente el nombre en la caja de búsqueda.

We are writing to share with you a series of news from the Search Engine. During these months, both José Urzúa (.CL) and .UY colleagues (Javier Coirolo, José Lombardi, Diego Bastiani, Freddy Hernandez and Gonzalo Diharce) have been working in a dedicated and cooperative manner to maintain and improve the operation of the service.
First of all, in the Search Engine application, a new functionality was developed that generates an e-mail reporting the errors detected in the communication with the integrated ccTLDs. This functionality will be enabled in the next few days and we will notify the integrated ccTLDs as soon as this happens. In this way, it will begin to generate reports every 12 hours, with which we hope to evaluate its performance with the Search Engine Committee, to include the corresponding changes.
Secondly, the .CL - .UY team has been working on the administration of the infrastructure that currently supports the service, as well as on the development and improvement of the applications that make up the Search Engine. Regarding the former, the objective is that the .UY experts can carry out a diagnosis and also propose changes that will allow the transition from beta mode to an official production state. Regarding the second, development, .UY has made improvements to the CAS application (cctld-availability-service), which have made it possible to overcome some errors that generated failed responses to Search Engine queries. This application is currently used by 8 integrated ccTLDs and we hope that these improvements made in .UY will allow us to generate a new version of CAS that we will make available for update in each ccTLD.
Finally, we briefly comment that the integration with the Search Engine carried out by NIC Chile has been successful and has been reflected in the origins of the web visits of the service. NIC Chile made the integration to the BUD in the last step that confirms the successful payment of a registration or renewal, adding a link that invites the client to check the availability in Latin America and the Caribbean of the domain that has just been paid. This link includes a parameter that allows the user to go to the Search Engine and automatically see the availability of the name in the region, without having to manually type the name in the search box.
